Event Description

A Bit of My Background...

I always LOVE the Holiday season. I love feeling the warmth, the festive, the loving and sharing. This holiday season, I have decided to listen to what I actually want to do. I want to share what I am most passionate with, learning and sharing knowledge.

I consider myself very lucky that I knew what I wanted to do and what I am passionate about since I was four years old-- I always wanted to learn and to share knowledge. I love discussions, conversations, sharing, writing, and thinking of things that I read from books. In respect to what I am enjoying the most and in living with my own passion, I have decided to start a tutoring company, URL Tutoring and Consulting, LLC. URL means Unconventional and Resourceful Learning. Learning must be unconventional for us to respect each student’s needs and what he/she can offer to the learning experience. Resourceful means that as an educator and a learner by heart, I will always bringing in the resources needed by the parents to enhance and to create the best learning experience for each student.

I provide the kind of tutoring that suits my belief and my teaching pedagogy. It is not limited to assist your child with homework, it is certainly NOT about pointing out of what is lacking with your child. I believe that for great things to happen, we need to focus on the strengths and on the feeling of gratitude of what we have.

I have a doctoral degree in early childhood education combined with family studies and philosophy of education. I believe that for an educational framework to happen, we need to put into consideration the family dynamic of a certain student and to own a firm philosophical background behind a discussion or a conversation for it not to loose its integrity and mission.

The Holiday Reading Event...

It starts with Grinch Who Stole Christmas...it is about the simple fact of love that truly is a great start for everything and anything....The second week is going to be about the perplexity of wrapping “The Gift of Nothing” and the classic warmth and joy of “Frosty The Snowman”...the third week is the question we ask ourselves “ could we be kind and forgiving as Elf On The Shelf” and the beauty of whiteness of “Snow”...

The Math/Logic Camp...

The concepts that we will be focusing is including, but not limited to: additions, subtractions, multiplications, divisions, understanding the connections between additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions, fractions, number sense, place value, learning time, and number sense. It will be direct practice plus its application on word problems.

3-Day Holiday Writing Camp...

I am focusing on the logic part of writing-- the fact that a student ought to learn to organize his or her thoughts to produce a good writing. We started by understanding the concept of a “thought”, which is the embryo of a “ main idea” of a writing. Then, we start thinking of the “important supporting details” that could enhance and clarify our main idea. If we start with a logical step, then, the rest of the writing process will be easy as a student will learn to follow the direction of his/her thought from the beginning of the process.
