Event Description
Buy a ticket to support them and then come hang out after the show at Jersey Social (in the same building). It'll be a rare time to learn more about the program that's enriching the lives of so many young people, from the people themselves.

Show Summary:
Jesus invites us to follow Him and be a part of His brand new Kingdom. But in this Kingdom, everything seems to be… upside down. The first are last, the poor are rich and the weak are strong. This is the good news of the gospel but also a challenge to every believer to give up their old ways of being, the “regular” ways the world does things. New City Kids seeks to be a manifestation of this Upside-Down Kingdom by using young people to change their communities as they choose to live for Christ, counter-culturally.

New City Kids has been changing outcomes for underserved urban youth for over 15 years. Founded in 2000, New City Kids believes that a holistic, educational approach has the power to impact the lives and transform the futures of at-risk youth in marginalized communities. New City Kids’ mission is, “loving kids for change to create a community of academic, leadership, musical, and spiritual development,” and uses an intersection of preventative after-school services, with intentional mentoring and leadership development as tools to end cycles of generational poverty. Since 2009, New City Kids has helped 99% of seniors graduate high school and continue on to college, and 90% of program alumni have earned a degree or are still on track to graduate. New City Kids has helped the at-risk youth in Jersey City change their trajectories through employment, enabling them to achieve success in educational attainment, as well as upward economic and social mobility.
