The US continues to have a reading crisis. The main reason is that public schools insist on making children memorize sight-words, which is almost always a dead-end.. We have to get rid of sight-words.

I have dozens of articles on the Internet about reading. I could write a long article now. But I don't want to bore anyone. Here's a summary: The crisis is real. The  bad judgment in the public schools is real. If you have a child in K-4, you have to familiarize yourself with what's going on. Then you can help your kid avoid the worst problems.
