I had a very bad experience with this Bangladeshi nanny (she has green card and drivers license!!). Please dont get fooled by her. She might even be able to provide a reference by the name Shalini. I am a person who would think 10 times before disreputing a person.

I hired her as a live in nanny 3 months back for my two kids. During her interview I had clearly told her that my kids had been through a nanny change just 3 months back, I am having to let go of previous nanny on medical grounds. She should not commit if she has any doubts about being able to take up a live in position. She admitted that she had a 10 year old son however she had no plans to bring him to the US atleast for 2 years therefore she will be able to commit for a long term live in position.

However less than 3 months into the job, she broke the news that her husband and son were expected the next month and that she no longer can do live in and can do only live out. She had no repents and agreed that she lied to get this job and justified that her need was greater than mine and that I could easily find another nanny. Even her reference, Shalini  had lied to me about her and apparently even she had to let go of Tanya the previous year due to the same reason.

Since my kids especially the 2 year old had gotten attached to her, I even considered continuing with her in a live out position but requested her to continue live in atleast for 2 months till my vacation to India. On my return she could start live. She did not confirm however in the two weeks she was always on phone calls, would demand leave every other day or demand to leave early and really gave me a miserable experience. In talking with her it has come to my knowledge that once her husband finds a job she may not even work and may prefer to do some odd jobs here and there.

In all of this, I was really shocked by her lack of empathy, conscience, and total irresponsible behaviour of putting the kids and me thru this utterly miserable experience. Please DO NOT hire TANYA AKHTAR, your kids deserve better!!
