My son went through a difficult period last year. For close to 5 months into second grade, my seven year old came home disheartened every day saying he was lonely, had no friends and nobody played with him during recess. I’d never heard of a child who hated recess or who wanted to skip a field trip – my heart broke for him and I started to wonder if my child was a social misfit?! I didn’t think so, and I took a few steps to help him through it – he’s now a happy, sometimes overly-friendly third-grader!
