Overview of Position:

Jersey City Bike Share (JCBS) Ambassadors are knowledgeable, customer service-oriented individuals who live and breathe the JCBS brand. Ambassadors will speak to and help Jersey City locals, tourists, individuals and groups understand how to use JCBS out in the field.  Ambassadors will do community outreach, help the public understand how to use JCBS, and assist with staff presentations and special events.

Applicants must be team-players available to work weekdays and/or weekends, and must have experience working with the general public.  This is a temporary position.  Temporary employees will have the opportunity to apply for regular part-time or full-time positions, as the openings become available.

Key Aspects of Position:

• Perform community outreach to help businesses, private property owners, and potential members understand the benefits of bike share.
• Staff special events which may include corporate membership sign-ups, festivals, street fairs, etc.
• Help facilitate the sale of memberships.
• Help facilitate purchases of casual passes at JCBS stations and educate casual pass users about the system.
• Demonstrate bike features, removal and return procedures for bikes, kiosk signup and pricing.
• Collect contact information for the JCBS database.
• Assist with membership mailings and fulfillment as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Basic computer skills.
• Comfortable working outside, walking, standing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Solid interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that reflects the JCBS brand and spirit.
• Experience interacting with very large groups ranging from children to adults; ability to interact with the public in a positive and professional manner.
• Excitement and interest in bike sharing are a must.
• Knowledge of bicycling and bike lanes/paths in Jersey City. 
• Ability to take direction well and memorize basic facts about the system.
• Excellent time-management and communication skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Valid Driver’s License and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
• College degree.
• Experience with bikes and bike safety.
• Living or working experience with public housing residents.
• Multi-linguals are strongly encouraged to apply.
