Live In Nanny timings

Hi,

Can somone tell me more about what timings generally do Live in Nanny's follow? Do they leave on Friday evenings or saturday mornings? Do they get off on US holidays? What is the general reasonable rate for live in Nanny?

My nanny starts her day  at 7 am and ends at 6pm. However, she is very nice about being flexible when I am late at work and for that I try and leave her early on Fridays. She comes in on Sunday night but doesn't work on Sunday. Leaves on Friday evening.

She gets US holidays and I pay her a FT salary even when we are out for vacations - which I think is a term in the contract you should work with your nanny on. Most other moms told me that they had negotiated a half salary rate for vacations that extended 2 weeks or had agreed upon finding a part time job for their nanny while they were out.

Typical average rate for a live in Indian/Tibetan nanny, watching 2 kids (one of who is going FT to school) is $550- $600 per week plus commute. A highly educated nanny might charge you more.
