New Passport endorsement on PIO card

Hi Mommies

Has anyone traveled to India without having the new passport number endorsed on the PIO card.

I read online that as long as you carry the old and new passport of the child along with the PIO, the new passport number does not have to be endorsed on the PIO card. Just want to confirm this is true and if anyone has traveled with this and had no problems.
