I want to know what is the general practice in this area, do we pay to babysitters for public holidays if they have not come

They all ask for it but I think it is ridiculous to pay them passes, holidays and vacations..need a strong mommies union to discontinue this demand from them I believe!

Yeah, if you work as consultant you dont get paid for public holidays or any day you are not working, so baby sitters shouldn't get paid on public holidays too. Even daycares dont pay teachers on public holidays i think.
Do you pay nanny for vacation days?
Yes we have to pay for public holidays
If they take vacation then we dont give
