United Rescue is seeking dedicated members of the Jersey City community to become life-saving volunteers.
Volunteers have been making headlines as members of United Rescue, the first US network of Community-Based Emergency Caregivers connected by a mobile phone application. Under the direction of Jersey City Medical Center and with the support of Mayor Steven Fulop, Jersey City maintains an ongoing recruitment process for United Rescue. United Rescue is a new initiative building a team of trained volunteers to respond to health emergencies throughout the Jersey City community. Volunteers receive 65+ hours of free medical training and are supplied with medical equipment at no cost. To qualify, volunteers must live, work or go to school in Jersey City.
When a 911 call is placed to Jersey City Medical Center, United Rescue volunteers within the vicinity of the emergency are alerted, and act as intermediaries between the patient and the arriving EMS team. Liability is covered under the Jersey City Medical Center, and the benefit to the community is an organized group of qualified, life-saving volunteers.
