Fasttrack Languages is proud to present a Spanish Immersion Summer Program for the first time this year at 78 Erie  St. Jersey City, NJ 07302, from June 22nd to July 17^th, 2015. The participating students will communicate using Spanish vocabulary and aim to structure grammar confidently and effectively over two-three weeks of time period.  Students will enjoy learning Spanish as a language and discover rich, vibrant culture through activities such as cooking, reading, story telling, role-play, arts and crafts to name a few.

The students will explore South America and its different Spanish speaking countries, and gain knowledge about their cuisine, culture, festivities, climate, sports, dances, animals, oceans, plants, famous places and population while having loads of fun.

Activities:

Cooking:  The students will have the opportunity to know, prepare and savor the typical food of countries like Colombia, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia.  

Reading/Storytelling:  The ancient art of storytelling is well-suited for student exploration.  The students will journey beyond their imagination and acquire the skill of focused listening and speaking in Spanish in order to create artistic images.  This activity will encourage students to create their unique expression and will heighten the student’s ability to communicate thoughts and feelings in an articulate, lucid manner with the use of a second language.

Art Projects: The children will learn characteristics of the selected countries - their Animals, plants, food, tropical rainforest, weather etc, through highly creative visual process.  They will learn how to dictate descriptions and express actions with activities including painting techniques, sculpture projects, drawing and collage ideas.

Role Plays:  With fun and educational role-plays, the students will learn day-to-day Spanish.  They will be exposed to common life experiences in different settings:  an airport, a hotel, a restaurant, Shopping, the park, going to the beach and finding directions etc. Concepts and vocabulary will be introduced and design around each specific topic.

Movement and Songs:  No Sitting while learning Spanish!  

Students will familiarize with the pronunciation and rhythm of the Spanish language through songs, dancing and yoga.   By listening, singing and practicing different yoga poses, children will identify the variation of pitch in the pronunciation of words and punctuations of phonemes to convey an order, affirmation, question or exclamation.

Fasttrack-languages follows the communicative approach which emphasizes interaction as both the means and the ultimate goal of study. Under this umbrella, we help the student develop their communicative competence using a foreign language. In our classes students pair and participate in-group work that requires negotiation and cooperation between themselves. Moreover, Students are encouraged to develop their confidence when speaking in the target language through role-plays, singing, reading comprehension and individual/group presentations.
