hi suruchi,

here r ur answers to the questons in the same order-

ans 1- yes the newborn can lie on tummy on moms chest for a while to soothe - as long as the baby seems comfy n not finding it difficult to breathe in that position or disturbed the way the head has been placed coz in both cases the baby will not b able to help himself /herself - so as long as ur supervising the baby on its tummy ,all is good .

ans 2 - sorry, i never used a sling so cant answer that by experince . but mayb a sling is ok after the baby has learnt to move n control the head using the neck muscles - generally , a baby can lift its head by the 3rd month .

ans 3 - yes ,ok to feed from one breast per feeding n then alternate, as long as the baby has fed enough before sleeping off or u dont have pain in the other breast due to engorgement of excessive milk in it .

these r my answers from my experience n mayb other mums may have a different opinion on certain questions ....i only hope these help anyways :)
