Hi Kanika,

Newport and the neighborhood has several activities to keep your toddler engaged on the weekends. Some of my son's favorite weekend places are listed below:

1) http://lsc.org/ (Liberty Science Center). They have corporate membership for certain companies that sponsor LSC. Please check if your company is eligible for the corporate membership - Free access for you + one

2) http://www.libertystatepark.org/ (Liberty state park). We usually Bike there with our son in the toddler seat and carry a little picnic basket with us. It gives our son plenty of running space and has beautiful views. They also have an icecream van in the vicinity, if you allow your son summer treats :) On our way back we usually stop at one of the local Grove Street brunch/ lunch places.

3) http://www.mygym.com/jerseycity (MyGYM, Hamilton Park): My son absolutely loves this place. It is right by Hamilton park and has the most amazing teachers. In my opinion, it is absolutely worth the money they charge. They have frequent special offers and discount, so be sure to check their website. You could mention Avin Pawar's name as he has been going there since its inception at Hamilton park. It requires a membership, but there are perks that come with it. We usually follow up the MyGYM class with a few hours at the Hamilton park and a treat on some days at http://www.milksugarlove.com/ (This place is a must visit if you have a sweet tooth)

4) Biking at the boardwalk (towards Hoboken). With the City Bike rentals you can make it an active weekend by Biking to Hoboken waterfront. This gives us plenty of parks to chose from and once again lots of open space to just let the little one run around.

5) http://www.superdupertennis.com/ (Tennis Lessons with Leo/ Coach Joy): We just started this summer and we absolutely love it! It took two lessons for Avin to get to like the sport and pay attention. The first two lessons, he was more interested in several water breaks and just running back to me. The coach is an absolute gem and knows how to keep an active toddler focused and engaged.

Hope this helps. You can always connect with other moms on this wonderful forum to see if you could join any existing playgroups.
