Vaseline Jelly jar

I have no patience for pedicures and as a result, most of the time, the soles of my feet are cracked and gory! While I dont like sitting down in one place for a pedicure, I love spending on a variety of products. So I have bought all kinds of ' cracked heel' ointments and creams, various kinds of machines and must honestly report that they are safely sitting in my closet (used once at the most).

But this winter, I decided to dedicate 2 mins of my time to a $1 product  that I had read cures eczema in babies - Vaseline or 100% pure petroleum jelly. I applied it one night rather miserly to my heels and wore a pair of clean socks over them.

Robert Chesebrough, the man who discovered Vaseline, in 1859 probably had the same exhilaration as I did when I saw the results...Next morning, 80% of my cracked heel had softened up. 2 more nights of religiousity brought 100% relief. It was a true miracle for me !

Since then, I have discovered that Vaseline also heals up pigmented patches of skin on the knees/elbows and am now experimenting on getting rid of my kids' chapped cheeks, bruises etc.

I am not the kind who gushes over beauty products - what I gush over are hacks that make my and other's lives simple! So every few weeks I will start contributing hacks that have worked for me. Love it or ignore it and better still share your own hacks!
