Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: At what age are kids ready for piano lessons?
Jennifer: Most of my students started at 4 years old and up. A few of them started around the age of 3 and a half. It really depends. The best way to find out is to take a 30-min trial lesson or start with the Group Piano Class.

Question 2: What is the Group Piano Class?

Jennifer: Group piano classes provide an introduction to piano study in an engaging and supportive group setting for young beginners. Various activities are included such as singing, moving, and listening to stimulate Children's natural curiosity about music. Classes will also introduce and focus on finger coordination, proper hand position, basic theory, music reading, and ear training. A minimum of four students of compatible age and ability are needed to form a small ensemble.

Question 3: Do I need to have a piano at home?
Jennifer: Most of my students have piano, electronic piano or keyboard at home. Some students did not have a piano or only had a keyboard when they started but bought one at a later time. Some bought a used piano which is much cheaper.

Question 4: How often and how long do my kids need to practice?
Jennifer: Practice makes perfect. The more you practice, the more progress you make. That said, consistent and regular practice is important. A 15-30 min practice each day is more helpful than a long hour practice in one day and no practice at all for the rest of the week.

Question 5: Where and when do you teach?
Jennifer: My piano studio is located at 1 Shore Lane, Jersey City, NJ. I have students coming for lessons as early as 9:00am in the morning and as late as 8:00pm in the evening.

Question 6: Do you teach adult students?

Jennifer: Yes. Many of my students are adults. You maybe surprised that, when it comes to piano playing, adults generally learn much faster than kids!

Question 7: Do you send students to play in music exams or competitions?
Jennifer: Yes. My students played in various music exams and competitions and received good comments and won prizes! I also have students who got admitted to prestigious music school in the States.

Dear Moms,

My son is a student of Ms.Jennifer and I would like to share my experience so far. Jennifer has a lot of experience teaching piano and it shows in the way she focuses on the important aspects right away, making her teaching very effective. I have seen this first hand with my son and also with many of my friends' kids. I highly recommend her studio as I have seen an entire group of kids learn the skills and excel under her guidance.

Please email me if you have any specific questions and I will be glad to help.
